THE COMPANY
MEC Limited is an established mechanical engineering construction company based in the South East, undertaking contracts for various Irish and international clients involving, mechanical plant erection, supply & installation of process/utilities pipework and equipment, management of production shutdowns and general assistance during plant commissioning.
THE ROLE
We require a Safety Officer to manage safety on projects in Co. Louth and to report to Head Office in Clonmel regularly.
THE PERSON
- Relevant third level qualification in Safety.
- On-site experience.
- Thorough knowledge of current Health and Safety Legislation.
- Strong Inter-personal skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- IOSH Member and valid Safety Training instructor is desirable.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:
- Ensure compliance with: Safety, Health and Welfare Legislation, Site Safety Plan, relevant Method Statements, Safe Plan of Action, Company Health, Safety and Welfare Statement and ensure good safety practice is maintained.
- Carry out regular site audits and inspection, provide reports and follow up on any corrective actions.
- Attend Safety Meetings on site as required.
- Assess Sub-contractors safety documentation and secure relevant documentation e.g. safety statements, method statements, insurances (EL/PL).
- Carry out induction training for new employees/sub-contractors and maintain records.
- Conduct toolbox talks.
- Provide and maintain procedures appropriate to the needs of Safety, and to ensure their effective implementation.
- Liaise with Site Staff and Management regarding Safety Issues.
