Taking place in Ireland for the first time from the 9th to the 11th of November, the HSE/RCSI Education Centre at Waterford Regional Hospital saw a significant gathering of medical specialties, nursing, midwifery, primary care and allied health professionals – together with HSE librarians – to focus on empowering healthcare professionals with skills necessary to deliver evidence-based practice at the point of patient care.

The 3-day workshop entitled “Evidence-Based Practice Skills for Healthcare Professionals” was co-hosted by the HSE’s Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit in the South East, HSE library services, medical colleagues in Waterford Regional Hospital, in collaboration with the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, Oxford University.

Taking its name from Lenus Mars, the Celtic god of healing and well-being, LENUS is Ireland’s most comprehensive online repository of health-related reports, research and official publications. Spanning a period from the 1960s to the present day, LENUS makes available a wealth of material from former Irish health boards, the Health Service Executive, the Department of Health and Children and many other organisations active in the field of Irish health.

Please note that access to the IMI Knowledge Centre is intended solely for the purposes of your personal learning and development, as a staff member. The Knowledge Centre is available only to staff of the HSE and of those health sector organisations agreed between the IMI and the HSE.
