
Occupational First Aid Re Certification - FETAC Level 5
A one day re-fresher training course which updates currently certified occupational first aiders.
Aim / Objectives
Participants update their knowledge and practical skills in administering First Aid in the workplace where skills may only be intermittently used. It ensures first aiders keep up to date with developments in Occupational First Aid practices, changes in legislations and relevant guidance.

Course Content
- Assessment, Accident scene management
- Circulation, wounds and bleeding
- Respiration, asphyxia and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R)
- C.P.R – 50% to include student practice
- AED training
- Unconsciousness
- Fractures, sprains, strains and dislocations
- Burns and scalds, chemical poisons, electric shock
- Medical emergencies, crush and spinal injuries
- Casualty transportation
- Additional OFA situations encountered by participants in the course
of their work
Methodology
A highly participative and interactive approach using a variety of training methods are incorporated into the course
Course / Certificate Validation
This course is now Fetac Level 5 accredited. Re-certification is for an additional two years.
Participants who were not Fetac accredited can register for €17.

Instructor Qualifications
Registered with the National Ambulance Training School and is registered with OFAAA.
Requirements
Participants must hold a current Occupational First Aid Certificate and need to bring a copy with them. We will keep these copies for our records.
Course Materials
A Supply of manikins for practical training and individual first aid kits with bandaging allows for each participant to practice their skills throughout the course
Evaluation Methods
Participants complete a written examination (multiple choice questions (MCQs)) and practical skills are assessed.
