Manual Handling Instructor & Assessor Refresher Course (2 Days)

This 2 day programme refreshes the skills of qualified instructors and updates them on relevant legislation, ergonomic assessments, anatomy and physiology of the spine and current research.

On completion of this programme participants will have refreshed their knowledge and skills in the following manual handling training topics:

Day 1
Ergonomics

Ergonomic assessment :Adapting the demands of a task to the capabilities of the worker .
Reduction of risk :Improvement of unsafe working practices and environments.
Job design:  Case study and assessment Working safely: Principles of safe lifting and moving techniques: Practical lifting, pushing and pulling exercisesVideo of practical exercises
Assessment of practical : Development of practical lifting skills

Day 2
Instructional skills assessment

Manual handling practical exercises:
Lifting from a floor
Lifting from a table
Lifting from low to high
Handling sacks and drums
Pushing and pulling

Presentations by participants with feedback and assessment of instructional skill
 
Please note: each participant on the course needs to bring a valid copy of their manual handling instructor & assessor certificate.  A manual handling instructor & assessor certificate is valid for 5 years.
